Initial Submissions for review:

In order to expedite the submission process and be more environmentally friendly, we are now only accepting electronic submissions via email and also submissions submitted on CD (no floppy disks, please).  Email submissions can be sent to submissions@hilliardandharris.com. We will not be reviewing submissions until October, 2008 due to production schedules.

Please submit a query letter identifying your manuscript and the genre that it is in. Include in your email, or on your CD the first 5 chapters of your manuscript or 100 pages formatted in 12 point type, in a standard font (for example, Arial or Courier New. No script fonts, please.) whichever is greater. (Do not break a chapter to meet the 100 page limit.) Include a brief synopsis of your novel (as if for a jacket liner) and brief bio of the author.If interested we will notify the author and request the entire manuscript.

The guidelines for submitting the entire manuscript are as follows:

Send an email or CD including the entire manuscript. Document should be formatted in 12 point type, in a standard font (for example, Arial or Courier New). No script fonts, please. Include page numbers at the bottom of the page but no header content.

Please include your name, mailing address, email address (if applicable), and phone number on your cover page. Please calculate the word content of your manuscript with your word processing software and include that information on the upper left hand corner of the cover page.

Hilliard & Harris will notify authors of our progress in the evaluation process. We will correspond by email as appropriate.

DUE TO THE VOLUME OF MANUSCRIPTS OUR RESPONSE TIME IS NOW UP TO 6 MONTHS.

Hilliard & Harris will provide support from our editors for authors who are accepted for publication for final manuscript preparation, but manuscripts submitted requiring substantial mechanical or line editing will be rejected.
